This is a reminder that the container is only two colors. What and how much information on the outside will translate to what you are doing with the postcards? This is the starting point of your message to the view. What do you say and what are visual clues that you will be giving them to entice them to open up the promotion? What is going on the inside, for example, once the cards are removed what else can there be? I want to see some innovation and well crafted containers, so you may have to construct your container several times to align up design with all the sides of the form.

I want you to create a series of Promotional Postcards that talk about Truman to potential incoming students. You must decide on what message you want the intended viewer to grasp/explore in this promotion. How broad or narrow do you want the focus to be? How do you create a memorable promotion verse something they look at once and throw away?
The container serves a very vital role as mailer, informer and presenter of this promotion. If you do not make the design engaging once it arrives in the mail the intended view will throw it away never getting to the postcards themselves. The design is just as critical on the outside of the form as well as the inside of this promotion.
Things to think about with your images:
> how many images do you use
> your message needs to translate to a man and female audience
> do you use type with the images
> what do the images say and how do they relate to one another
create with -> Clarity, Precision, Economy and Efficiency
requirements
- 8 postcards front and back around a specific theme
> full color on the postcards
> card size is 5” x 7” and rounded corners
> the card back should have the Truman Logo and some
information
- design a container to hold the 8 postcards for it to be mailed (2 colors only)
- you must shot your own imagery
- you must use InDesign to layout the type on back of cards
- 2 sets will be turned in and I will keep one
schedule
- 10/20 project review, components, Q & A
- 10/25 look at research and ideas
- 10/27 look at first 4 cards: fronts
- 11/01 look at first 4 cards: fronts and backs

Create a document size 4 inches by 4 inches in RGB at 300 dpi; I will provide you with 4 images and words. You can ONLY use images that I provide you for this assignment and lets see how creative you really can be!! You can repeat an image more than once per document. Using any of the tools in Photoshop create a composition that relates to the assigned word. I will provide you with 4 words that you will need to represent the meaning to the viewer in each work. I do NOT expect the words to be in the composition. Print them out 2up on a page with the “word” under the work and have a PDF as well to be turned in.
Words: mischief, vengeance, protect and play

a.1 -> Develop a two-sided poster that strongly conveys a dissenting view on current political, economic or cultural causes or issues that currently exist with in this country. Visual Communicators possess both dynamic and strategic tools to create memorable messages; this poster is intended to serve as a social mechanism for advocacy, awareness, action, confrontation and motivation.
Images in and of it’s self are very powerful, but without clarity, fluency and form there can be little understanding. Construct a strategy/system to present the images/information through the use of letterforms, color and graphic/image elements.
>Give it dynamic form, provide for a meaningful dialogue not just a
monologue
>Demonstrate a clear purpose
>Make the viewer “think” about what the information/imagery/illustration
means
